James Harvey Taylor 87, died peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday April 24, 2018.
James was born May 4, 1930 in Prosperity, The son of the late James W. Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor.
James married Ida Lou Kiger in 1950 and they were married for 62 years.
James was proud of his American Indian Heritage, and he very proud of his service to his country having served in the Korean War. He served as tank commander of the 3rd Armored 140th division A-Company, and was attached to KATUSA supported by the ROK Army. James was a Purple Heart veteran, and served under General George Patton Jr.
James was an avid military gun collector and devoted hunter.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, James entered into a career as a mechanic and retired as a Washington County fleet mechanic.
James is survived by his son James Mark (Jamie) Taylor, daughter Sharon (Bob) Crothers.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his brother Harold Taylor.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 219 Main Street, Claysville, 724-663-7373, www.youngfhinc.com, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2018 Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery Morris Township.
