Leota Kennedy Newman, 95 of Burgettstown, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 16, 2018.
She was born September 17, 1922 in Good Intent, a daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl Thompson Kennedy.
She was a very active member of the Burgettstown Presbyterian Church for over 46 years, where she served on various committees, sang in the choir, and ministered in the Youth Group.
Mrs. Newman enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the hummingbirds, cooking, China painting, even having her own kiln, but especially enjoyed being with her family, grandchildren, and friends.
She was an avid reader with Billy Graham, Max Lucado, and David Jeremiah, as her favorite authors, enjoying watching old TV shows with her son, Brian, and watching the Power Point Ministries with Jack Graham on TV.
In addition, Mrs. Newman’s passion was her love for music and singing, even singing twice in the Billy Graham Crusade Choir. Her favorite was listening to Irish music and loved the original Riverdance.
Her whole life was about serving the Lord and others, so she is hearing the Lord’s own words “Well Done Good and Faithful Servant” from Matthew 25:23.
Surviving are her son, Brian Newman of Burgettstown, her grandchildren, Chris (Leah) Jeram, Dan Jeram, and Megan (Ryan) Roupe, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are her husband, Glenn Newman, who died on June 1, 1990, her daughter, Beth Ann Jeram, who died December 3, 2005, and her brothers, Harry, James, Earl, and Cecil Kennedy.
Friends will be received from 2-8 pm Thursday, July 19, 2018 in Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Taucher Chapel, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 20 with the Rev. Cinda Isler officiating. Interment will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery.
