Mary Lou (Martin) Kennedy

Mary Lou (Till) Kennedy, 88, of Claysville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 21, 2017. 

She was born on July 18, 1929.  She was the daughter of the late Ed Martin and Effie Jane Stollar. 

She attended Claysville High School, and she was a lifetime member of the Claysville United Methodist Church.  

She was a van driver for Clark School. She was co-owner of Kennedy and Warne Feed Grinding, Kennedy’s West End Towing and Kennedy’s Amoco.  She was a care-taker for many families in the Claysville community. 

She served on the Claysville Borough Council for 21 years.  She was a member of the Claysville Mother’s Club.  While involved in this club, she organized the first teen dances at the Claysville Community Center in the late 1950’s.  

She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and cooking Sunday dinners for her family.  She was continuously smiling watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She loved watching demolition derbies and attending ladies nights at the Claysville Volunteer Fire Department. 

She married the late Cecil Kennedy on July 23, 1946 at the Claysville United Methodist Church. 

Surviving are a sister, Peggy Scott of Manassas, VA; a daughter, Mary Jane Kennedy at home, and a son, Joe Kennedy of Claysville; three grandchildren, Natalie (Jason) Hewitt of Claysville, Noelle (Timothy) Pattison of Claysville, and Niles (Stephanie) Kennedy of Claysville; three great grandchildren, Emily Pattison, Eli Pattison, and Hartley Hewitt. 

Deceased are one sister, two brothers, and her grandson, Nathan Kennedy. 

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc.  219 Main Street, Claysville, 724-663-7373, www.youngfhinc.com. Where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, with Pastor Rico officiating and Rev. Meade Lacock assisting. Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Claysville Borough or Amedisys Hospice Care, 275 Meadowlands Blvd, Washington, PA 15301.
