Mary (Scherich) Reed

Mary Scherich Reed age 91 of West Alexander, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in her home surrounded by family. She was born February 20, 1926 in West Finley, daughter of George and Edna Sprowls Scherich. Mary was a 1944 graduate of West Alexander High School and a 1947 graduate of Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at Wheeling Hospital, School Nurse at West Alexander High School and retired from Reynolds Hospital in 1988.

On May 15, 1948 she married James J. Reed who proceeded her in death April 9, 2002. She was a member and trustee of the West Alexander Presbyterian Church, Willing Hands Lifetime Member of West Alexander American Legion Auxiliary Post 656.

She is survived by her children James (Theresa) Reed, of Elm Grove, WV, Mary Lea (Dennis) Dutton of Washington, PA and Barbara Reed of West Alexander, PA, her grandchildren, Lorin (Michael) Yolch, Kristin (Stan) Zarnoch, Michael Reed and Kathryn (Andy) Jungo, step-grandchildren Rose Ann & Nicole Johnson, two great- grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren, her brother Clyde Scherich sisters Martha McAdoo and Virginia Milliken. Mary is proceeded in death by her brothers Wayne & Joseph Scherich and her sister Ruth Horvat.

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the West Alexander American Legion Auxiliary Post 656 or the West Alexander Presbyterian Church.
