Adolph R. Schilinski, 85, of Burgettstown, PA, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025.
He was born on June 21, 1940, in Slovan, PA, a son of the late Benjamin and Barbara Schilinski. Adolph was a 1959 graduate of Union High School.
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 and was a Vietnam Veteran. His military service was a source of lifelong pride and shaped his enduring commitment to fellow veterans and community service.
Adolph spent over 30 years working at Langeloth Metallurgical Company before retiring. He was a lifelong member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Raccoon Valley Sportsman’s Club.
A proud Army veteran and devoted community member, Adolph was known for his friendly personality and love for the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed gardening, berry picking, canning, and making apple pie. He had a deep appreciation for hats, amassing quite a collection, and was a dedicated supporter of various veteran organizations. He was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, rarely missing a Steelers, Penguins, or Pirates game.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith (Jones) Schilinski; his parents; his brother, Benjamin Schilinski; and his sister, Barbara (Schilinski) Moran.
Adolph is survived by his longtime companion, Sheila Carter of Cecil; his son, George (Amy) Kidwell of WV; grandsons Jonus and Miles; siblings: Sally (John) Moriarty of IL, Rosalie (Lester) Griffith of OK, Frances Niedzialkia of Slovan, Karen (Lenny) NH, Denise Rossi of Slovan, and John Schilinski of Slovan. He is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 2–4 PM and 6–8 PM. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Interment to follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
