Alice Bell (Irey) Hardway

Alice Bell Irey Hardway, 98, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Premier Washington Health Center.

She was born on April 2, 1924 daughter of the late George and Beatrice Bell Irey. Alice attended Washington School District. After graduating High School she kept herself busy by working at many local businesses and she took pride in managing the Claysville Coffee Shop.

She was a member of the West Alexander Legion Ladies Auxillary, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and also attended Claysville Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She volunteered at Washington Hospital and the Washington Area Senior Citizens Center Meals On Wheels, she would help others out as much as she could. Alice enjoyed collecting bells from her many travels, reading, crocheting afghans, and spending time with her family. 

In addition to her parents, Alice is proceeded in death by her husband Paul O. Hardway, Sr. who passed away in 1990.  

Alice’s memories live on in Jewell (Nelson) Ealy, children Mark (Missy) Ealy, and Olivia (Rick) Guy, Paul (Cheryl) Hardway, and daughter Sarah Hardway, the late Rick Hardway, children Jodi Rush, Lori (Jake) Allen, Ryan Todd Hardway, and Tammi Darlene (Ed) Thomas, Rebecca (George) Columbo, daughters Carri (Craig) Stockwell, Dana (Louis) Sterle, and Shannon (Dan) Jones, Debra Thomas children Christie (Jamie) Dorsey, the late Erik Renner, Bo (Christine) Thomas, and Heidi (Mike) Monosky. 24 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. 

Alice was the last of her immediate family.
