Betty C. McAdoo, 90, of Claysville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
She was born in Claysville on May 10, 1933, the daughter of the late Claire and Romaine Cunningham.
Betty attended Claysville High School, Class of 1951. After graduating she completed her Associate Degree at Penn Commercial Business/ Technical School.
On April 19, 1953, she married Merle E. “Gene” McAdoo. They spent 51 loving years together before his passing on February 4, 2005.
Betty started her career as a secretary at Claysville Elementary School and later became a Librarian Aide at McGuffey High School until her retirement.
She was a lifelong member of The Claysville United Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon and Elder for many years. She enjoyed attending book club and birthday club with her friends.
Betty also enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling, playing dominos, and spending time with her many nieces and nephews, and family.
She was a loving, kind, and caring mother and friend.
She is survived by a daughter Diana Newland (Russ) of Houston, TX., two sons Mark E. McAdoo (Stephanie) of Claysville, PA., and Michael C. McAdoo (Lori) of Vaughn, WA., a brother George Cunningham, two sisters Susan Boone and Janet Burig, six grandchildren Zachary, Elizabeth, and Shannon McAdoo, Lauren McKee (Josh), Megan McKee (Dr. Bilal Chaarani) and Dr. Sean Mckee, great-grandchildren Finn and Minerva, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter Bonnie Bryner, and two brothers Joe and Don Cunningham.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323. For all who are attending, please meet at the church. Interment to follow at West Alexander Cemetery.
