Carolyn Lawler, 82, of Claysville, passed away in her home on May 11, 2022. She was born in East Finley on March 24, 1940, daughter of the late Howard and Hazel (Edgar) Brownlee. She was a 1958 graduate of Claysville High School and later graduated from Penn Commercial with her Associate's Degree in Accounting. On May 19, 1962, she married the late James Lawler. For several years Carolyn worked as a crossing guard for Claysville Elementary.
Carolyn was involved with the National Pike Festival, Claysville Community Center, Special Olympics, East Finley Township Festival, a Girl Scout Leader, a part of the Claysville Volunteer Fire Department Lady’s Auxillary, a founder of the Claysville Truck Stop Ministry, and a certified lay minister for the United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed quilting, chair canning, and caning.
She was a friendly person of deep faith who enjoyed helping others and will always be remembered as a great mother and grandmother
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers Howard “Eddie” and Herman who passed away in infancy.
Survived by daughter Cheryl (Dean) Shaw, son Bill ‘Billy’ (Karin) Lawler, grandchildren Kelsey (Ethan) Randall, Nicholas Shaw, Charley, and Lehman Lawler, and great-grandchild Emerson Randall.
A visitation for Carolyn will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA. 15323.
