Clyde “Butch” Gilmore, 77, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2024 after a brief illness. He was born on December 21, 1946, in his childhood home in Claysville, PA. He was the son of the late James Gilmore and Helen Crawford Gilmore. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Anderson Gilmore, of whom he shared over 30 years of marriage with. He is also survived by his daughter Kellie J. Grimes (David), a bonus daughter Kelley A. Miller, stepson Thomas Miller, grandsons Joshua Stevens (fiance Brianna McAdoo), bonus grandsons Jake Miller (Cheyann), Steven and Hunter Sutterfield, stepgranddaughters Tiffany Stein (Austin), Jessie Miller, and Klair Frye Miller, great-granddaughters Brielle and Briar Stevens, great-grandsons Oakley and Ashton Allen, and great-granddaughters Kennedy Allen and Sophia Miller.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam era, where he learned to run heavy equipment, which led to his 40-plus-year career. His secondary career was a farmer, with over 65-plus successful years. He enjoyed teaching his family about farming, and honest work. He was an avid hunter for many years, which he shared with his children and grandchildren. He loved watching his cows and watching over his farm, from his swing in the front yard. Many stories were told to three generations, along with tall tales and lessons learned. At his request, there will be no public funeral services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
