Cody Allen Schmidt
June 7, 1988 – March 23, 2026
Cody A. Schmidt, 37, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 23, 2026. Born in Winchester, Virginia, he was the son of Jeffrey Schmidt of Pittsburgh, PA, and Laurie Bruce (Robert) of Winchester, VA.
Cody attended John Handley High School in Winchester. He later made Eugene, Oregon, and then Pittsburgh, his home. Cody worked in construction as a skilled welder and fabricator; he was known for his attention to detail and hard work.
A passionate sports fan, Cody especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed drawing, using it as a creative outlet.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kaleigh Schmidt of Winchester; his parents; his sister, Michelle Dart (Paul); his nieces, Peyton and Presley, all of Winchester; his grandmother, Janice Schmidt; his aunt, Holly Recker (Chuck); his uncles Kirk Brady and Scott Brady (Janet), all of Pittsburgh; and many cousins.
Cody was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Josie Brady, Maryanne Brady, and Frederick Schmidt.
Cody never stopped fighting his personal battles. Cody was a good person who deeply loved his family, friends, and his dog Wilbur. He will be remembered for his big smile and kind heart; and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A remembrance gathering will be planned at a future date.
