In 1994, Mickey was selected to the Washington Greene County Hall of Fame for his accomplishments on the football field. He also served 6 years in the United States Air Force Reserve.
On November 25, 1960, he married the love of his life, Donna Galloway of McDonald, PA, with whom he spent 57 happy years until her passing in 2017.
