Donald L. Lauther, 72, of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2025, following a short-term illness.
Born July 20, 1952, in Washington, PA, he was the son of the late P. Aileen (Gorby) and Carl Lauther. A 1970 graduate of McGuffey High School, Don went on to earn his degree in Drafting and Welding from the Washington Institute of Technology in 1975.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Army from October 17, 1972, to October 16, 1974, as a Wireman in the 101st Airborne Division stationed in Korea. Following his military service, he dedicated 25 years to Songer Industrial Construction and later worked for 10 years as a coal miner with Consol.
A proud 51-year member of the Claysville American Legion Post 639, Don was known as a devoted family man, an artistic handyman, and a passionate Pittsburgh sports fan.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Regina (Burket) Lauther; his daughter, Kiya (Denise) Lauther; his son, Donn Ryan Lauther; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Trix” Lauther; brother-in-laws, Mike Claudé and Wilfred Burket; and a sister-in-law, Pamela Newland.
A committal service will be held at The Cemetery of the Alleghenies, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 1:30 PM, followed by a luncheon at the Claysville American Legion Post 639. The date and time are to be announced.
