Dorothy Mae (Thornburg) Coffman

Dorothy Mae Thornburg Coffman, 89, of Weirton WV, passed away on January 1, 2023. 

She was born on February 2, 1933, in Erie Mine, PA daughter of the late Lee Thornburg and Irma Linda Mary Thornburg. Dorothy was a 1952 graduate of Union High School. 

After graduating she started her waitressing career at the Farm Restaurant in Burgettstown, and the Holiday Inn in Weirton, WV where she later retired.

She was a member of Colliers First Church of God in Weirton WV, she was also a resident at the Burgettstown High Rise for 10 years where she met many long-lasting friends.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching WWE Wrestling, listening to Bobby Vinton, and dancing. Dorothy and her daughters had many dance parties in the living room growing up. 

In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by a grandson David E. Strope, and brother Robert L. Thornburg.

She is survived by children Karen (Chuck) Knisley of Burgettstown, Linda Ross of Weirton, WV, Terri (Paul) Fritch of Burgettstown, and Jimmy (Kathy) Coffman of Burgettstown, grandchildren Joe (Michelle) Presutti of Clinton, Leia (Chris) Fritch of Cochranton, Randy (Julie) Strope of Charleroi, Lisa (Keith) Brown of Burgettstown, Tabitha (Matt) Baker of Burgettstown, Bradley Fritch of Burgettstown, and Kaci (Chaz) Coffman of Erie Mine, and several great-grandchildren. 

Friends and family will be received from 9 am to 1 pm time of service on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021.
