Florence E. (Brown) LaPosta

Florence Brown LaPosta, 99, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024.  She was born on April 20, 1925, the daughter of the late William and Helen Brown.  On May 18, 1943, she married Robert “Bat” LaPosta, they were married for 57 years before Robert’s passing on July 21, 2000.  

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Betty Furno, June Link, Harol Chutes, Ruth Chutes Smith, Iva Boyce, Thelma Brown LoPresti, and George Brown; daughter Judith Vajentic and son-in-law Eric “Giz” Vajentic and her daughter in law Diana LaPosta.

Loving mother to Robert (Barbara) LaPosta of Paris, PA, and Eugene LaPosta of Grantsville, MD, beloved Grandmother of Leslie (Jerry) Killen, Darek (Tammy) LaPosta, Eric (Sharon) Vajentic, Rob (Tara) LaPosta, Jenifer (Jamie) Hay and Lynae (Mark) Scott, adoring “Bum” and Granny to great-grandchildren Alex, Dominic, Jake, Andrew, Trent, Justin, Grace, Benjamin, Kyle, Ella, Regan, Sidney and Grayson, and an aunt, neighbor, and friend to many.

Florence was the head cook at Burgettstown High School.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and cross-stitching, blessing her family with blankets and Christmas stockings she lovingly made by hand. She was an avid Steeler fan and spent many Sundays cheering them on

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021. 724-947-2049 www.youngfhinc.com. Service to follow officiated by Pastor Nadia Stropich. 

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made in Florence’s memory to the Jefferson Township Fire Department where Florence volunteered for many years.
