Frank Garrison Obituary

Frank Gerald Garrison, 90, of West Alexander, PA, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on December 1, 1933, in Wheeling, WV, the son of the late Raymond Orlando Garrison and Helen Shaler Garrison. Frank spent most of his younger years on his family farm in West Liberty, WV. 

He was a 1952 graduate of West Liberty High School. After graduating, Frank was employed at Weirton Steel until he was drafted into the United States Army in April 1956. 

On April 28, 1956, he was united in marriage with Frances E. Kerns, whom survives. 

Once Frank completed his basic and advanced training he was later assigned to the 10th Infantry Division, in Würzburg, Germany, working with the Adjutant General’s Administration, where he was stationed until 1958.

Frank returned home, completed his military obligations in the Army Reserves, and rejoined his place of employment at Weirton Steel. During his time of employment, Frank devised a cost-effective plan for the corporation and was presented the highest award given at Weirton Steel. He was a Supervisor at the Sinter Plant until his retirement. 

After his retirement, he became a Donegal Township Supervisor.  He enjoyed hunting and traveling. Frank traveled to every state in the United States, all the Provinces of Canada, and went abroad to Germany, Austria, Holland, Ireland, France, and several more. Alaska was his favorite U.S. State.

He was a member of the West Alexander United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the West Liberty Masonic Lodge #26, the Masonic Temple in Wheeling, WV, a 50-year member of the Osiris Shriners in Wheeling, WV, and a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite in Wheeling, WV.

He loved all his coffee breaks and talking sessions at the Liberty Street Cafe. Spending time with his favorite shooting buddy Doug Martin, along with the others who sat with him for coffee and breakfast.

Frank is survived by his loving wife Frances E. Garrison.

Proud father of his children Kimberly Ann Garrison McAnany (James), Frank Gerald Garrison, Jr. (Frankie), a special angel Richard Kevin Garrison (deceased), and daughter Pamela Sue Garrison Wolfe (Randy),

He dearly loved all of his nine grandchildren Kevin Ewing Garrison (Kristina), Lindsey Rae McKinney (Micah), Frank Brennen Garrison, Loren Ann Watson, Nathaniel Garrison Wolfe (Katie), Logan James McAnany (Chelsea), Mariah Elizabeth Hackathorn (Matthew), Macaela Ann Hermans (Dakota), and Caleb Randall Wolfe, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister Delores McFadden, sister-in-laws Patricia Kerns, and Sheila Garrison, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Raymond, Maurice, and Paul Garrison.

Friends and family will be received from 4 pm to 8 pm on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the West Alexander United Methodist Church 58 N Liberty Rd, West Alexander, PA 15376. Visitation will be continued on October 1, 2024, from 10 am to 11 am time of service at the church. Interment to follow at West Alexander Cemetery.
