Frank Miller Obituary

Frank Alexander Miller, 75, of Claysville, PA passed peacefully in the Washington Hospital on September 8, 2021, after a brief illness with his beloved wife by his side.

Born in Washington, PA on August 10, 1946, to the late Harold “Pete” and Evelyn Miller, Frank was a graduate of McGuffey High School, class of 1964. A Highlander for life, he met his classmates monthly for breakfast. Frank was a truck driver. He worked most recently for Diamond W (formerly Advanced Oil Fields) but was also previously employed as a driver for GG & C and other trucking companies in the area.

Though he made his living driving a truck, loving his family made his life worth living. On December 14, 1968, Frank married his “Babe,” Eleanor Jean Dorsey Miller, who survives.  The couple was blessed with three sons, and Frank loved to say that each of the boys brought them home a daughter: Brian (Dawn) Miller of Washington, Chad (Carla) Miller of West Alexander, and Mark (Sherri) Miller of Washington.  Each of their sons also added two grandchildren to the “brood,” all of whom will carry his legacy of love and giving in to the next generation.  His grandchildren, Preston, Emily, Chase, Cole, Caroline, and Nora, will miss his laugh and relentless teasing but feel their toes – which Frank always threatened to chew on when they were babies – are finally safe.

Frank dedicated his life to his love of God, country, and family. He was an active member of his church, Fairmount United Methodist Church in East Finley, where he taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the choir, delighting parishioners with his booming baritone voice.  A veteran of the United States Army Reserve, with whom he served as a part of Operation Desert Storm, Frank was a dedicated member of the Claysville American Legion, Post 639, where he served as Post Chaplain.  Frank also rode as a member with the American Legion Riders, where he and his Honda Goldwing were most often seen bringing up the rear with a trio of flags on the back.

Also surviving are a brother, Ed (Janie) Miller of West Alexander, many cherished brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at the Fairmount United Methodist Church, 120 Fairmount Church Rd, West Finley, PA 15377, on Tuesday, September 14 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.  Funeral services will be held at the church on Wednesday, September 15 at noon with burial to follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 2:30.

The family asks that those attending services celebrating Frank kindly wear a mask or face covering.

Memorial contributions are made to the American Legion Post 639 Ladies Auxiliary, 208 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323. The family also asks that friends and family honor Frank by taking a moment to remember, as Frank always did, that love is an action word.

Arrangements are entrusted to Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street, Claysville PA 15323. (724) 663-7373 www.youngfhinc.com
