George Irven Phillis

George Irven Phillis, better known as Irv, 91 of Burgettstown, PA, died on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at home in Burgettstown, PA. Irv was born on October 31, 1933 (yep, a Halloween baby) to Carlisle and Pearl (Moore) Phillis. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette, of 69 years, and his children, Cynthia Phillis, Ralph (Lisa) Phillis, and Catherine (Daniel) Harvey, grandchildren Megan, Nicholas (Chelsie), Melissa (Matt), Zachary and Seth (Rylie), great-grandchildren Reed, Olivia, Rory, Ryan and Rivers, two brothers, Earl and Roy, a sister Suzie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Megan, son-in-law Dan, and brothers, Larry, Wayne, and Harry. 

Irv worked as a laborer for the P & LE and as an electrician at Norfolk Southern and retired to continue to work for Bernadette in their Rawleigh and Rada distributorships. He was also a Cubmaster for several years and enjoyed his time continuing to grow a troop.

Many weekends, you would find him traveling to a show somewhere, meeting new friends, and meeting up with family. His favorite times were those spent with family and attending sporting events, dance recitals, and concerts for his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Irv was the absolute best Poppy and will be missed by us all. 

Friends and family will be received from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021. 724-947-2049 www.youngfhinc.com. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
