Gerald S. Main (Jerry)

Gerald S. Main (Jerry) 87, of Claysville, PA, passed away on February 1, 2024, in his home with his loving family surrounding him.

He was born on May 29, 1936, in Washington, PA, a son of the late Stanley and Gladys Main.

Jerry graduated from Claysville High School, class of 1955.

On September 7, 1955, he married Laura M. Main. They spent 68 loving years together.

In addition to working Air National Guard Jerry worked several other jobs including Wilkie Contracting, being a self-employed operator for his business G.S. Main Equipment, working as a constable for several years, and driving school buses for McGuffey School District; he was well known as the “singing bus driver”.

Jerry was a member of the Claysville American Legion Post 639 and the Washington County Musicians Union. 

His passion in life was his family and being a musician. Jerry had a band named Jerry Able and The Rhythmaires where his wife Laura sang alongside him.

He was a kind, funny, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Myers and H. Jean Six, brothers John Main and James Main, a son Gerald Stanley Main, Jr. (Pudge), a son-in-law Michael Huffman, a daughter-in-law Cindy Main, and a granddaughter Holly L. Reed.

He is survived by his wife Laura M. Main, children Drena (David) Nicolella, Kimberly Huffman, Kash (Etta) Main, and Stacy (David) North, grandchildren David and Lauren Nicolella, Melanie Hofmann, Luke Main and Jeanna Main, Kirk, Jordan, Kyler, Marcus, and Kash Main, and David Avery, Alissa, and Dylan North, great-grandchildren Brian, Kendrik, Damon, Jacob, Evan, Tucker, Miley, Izzy, Avery, Jayla, Christian, and Kinsley and several great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. 

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm and 8 pm at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323.
