Irene Amos Obituary

Irene K. (Gashel) Amos, 90, of West Alexander, PA passed away unexpectedly in Washington Hospital on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. She was born on March 4, 1933, in Washington, PA, the daughter of the late Eric and Mary Gashel.

After graduating from Claysville High School, Irene worked for Bell Telephone as an operator and then worked for Don Swarts Equipment in West Alexander where she retired. 

Irene was a lifelong member of the West Alexander Presbyterian Church and a member of the West Alexander American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years. 

She enjoyed watching Pittsburgh sports, baking pies for the West Alexander Fair, and getting together with her friends once a month to play cards.

She is survived by her sons Chuck Amos of West Alexander and David Amos (Kim) of Valley Grove, WV, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 10 am to 1 pm time of service at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street Claysville, PA 15323. (724) 833-2408 Interment to follow at West Alexander Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to the West Alexander Presbyterian Church or West Alexander American Legion.
