Joan L. Patterson, 94, of Claysville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 11, 2026.
She was born August 26, 1931, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a daughter of the late James “Phil” Hedrick and Elnora Gallagher Hedrick.
Joan was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Wheeling.
In 1954, she married Wilfrid Burket, with whom she shared six children. Later in life, she married Norman Patterson.
Joan was a proud Catholic and enjoyed spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly. She loved cats, camping, and baking. To many who knew and loved her, she was affectionately known as “Mamu.”
Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela (Harry) Newland; son Wilfrid Burket; and by her siblings, James F. Hedrick Jr., Catherine Jackewicz, Lavelle Devauld, Eleanor Hedrick, and Donald Hedrick.
She is survived by her loving children, Regina (Donald) Lauther, Frankie (Eric) Mark, David Burket, and Francine (Mike) Claude; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews who will remember her with love.
A private service and burial will be held at Forest Lawn Gardens.
