After an 18-month battle with cancer, John Mitchell, a.k.a. Frosty, of Claysville, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
He said goodbye for now to the love of his life and best friend, Barbie Mitchell, children Laila (Shawn) Bueckers, Adam (Julie) Mitchell, Tyler (Theda) Risbin, and Kaitlin (Nathan) Dillie, grandchildren James, Joshua, Adam, Arya, Hadley, and Sterling, and a great-grandson Damian. John is also survived by his mother, a sister, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first child, Joshua, who passed away in infancy, his father, and a brother.
In 2019, John retired after 40 years as an Elevator Constructor Mechanic for IUEC Local 10 in Suitland, MD. He worked in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. building and maintaining elevators and escalators. His last ten years of work before retirement were in the D.C. Metro system.
John's pride and joy were Barbie, his children, his bonus sons and daughters, his grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. He will be deeply missed!
He was a simple man who didn't ask for much… he loved traveling with his wife, hunting, home cooking, desserts, a good cup of coffee, his quiet time on the porch, and Donald Duck.
John had a wicked sense of humor and he was a tried and true friend. Dan Anderson and Joe Coleman were John's best friends from childhood until the day he was called home. It meant so much to him receiving phone calls, texts, pictures, and songs during his last weeks.
Arrangements are entrusted to Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323 (724) 663-7373 www.youngfhinc.com.
