Josephine Matesic, 93, of Burgettstown, PA, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Southmont Presbyterian SeniorCare with her loving family surrounding her.
She was born on July 19, 1931, in Cherry Valley, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Jystina Obozek.
On May 3, 1952, she married her true love and best friend Joseph Matesic. They spent 37 cherished years together before his passing on August 19, 1989.
Josephine was a homemaker, she enjoyed every moment spent with her family.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church—St. Isadore the Farmer Parish, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and the church choir. Josephine was also a member of The Board of Elections for over 20 years.
She loved music, playing the accordion, and listening to Polka, she also loved to garden and bake many different decadent desserts.
To know her was to love her, Josephine was always loving, one with her faith, caring, and strong. She was a true friend to everyone that she met.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son John Matesic, son-in-law Ed Ringer, and siblings Stanley, Edward, and Frank Ruskowski; Helen Delprato, Mary Zoppetti, and Joseph Obozek.
She is survived by children Joseph Matesic (Marcy), and Rosalie Ringer, grandchildren Eddie (Caitlin), Joey (Stephanie), Zachary (Shauna), Lauren (Vince), Alyssa, and Johnny, great-grandchildren Ellie, Adela, Liv, Tatum, and Lenny, and several nieces and nephews. Josephine was the last surviving of her family.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021. www.younghfinc.com 724-947-2049. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church-Saint Isadore the Farmer Parish 1109 S Main Street, Burgettstown, PA 15021 at 10 am on Saturday, September 7, 2024. For anyone attending, please meet at church. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
