Judith (Judy) Ann Carr, 78, of Taylorstown, PA passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. She was born Judith Sampson on February 28, 1943, in Washington, PA. She was the daughter of the late Celia Dalton Sampson.
She was the best MOM EVER!!! She was an amazing wife, gram, grandma, and friend. She opened the door to all the neighborhood kids and provided a safe place that many called home. Her genuine love for people impacted everyone she met for the better. Mom lived life on her terms—full of love, compassion, and service, yet with time for adventure. She got to travel across the country with Elton when he had retired and she finally got to go to Disney World and she enjoyed those travels immensely. She loved to bake and make peanut butter fudge for everyone. She worried about us constantly and kept us from killing each other. She bragged about us to perfect strangers and encouraged us in everything we did, even into adulthood.
She loved getting her nails done with fancy designs and she loved when Helen would “surprise” her with a new design when she couldn’t decide what she wanted. She enjoyed playing cards and going to bingo and making new friends. She was a member of Unite Church and loved her church family and Pastor Gary. On February 28, 1962, she married Elton Ray Carr.
She is survived by her daughters Melissa Carr (Ralph) of Claysville, PA, Michelle (Dan) Johnson of Madison, AL, Janice (Craig ) Carr of McMurray, PA and Julie (Jay) Minch; son-in-law Wendell Rhodes of Easley, SC, grandchildren Derek (Lianne) Kuhlenschmidt, Dani (Will) Vick, Scott (Kayla) Sexton, Sidney, and Nicole Rhodes, Devin (Jenny) Carr, Zack and Nathan Minch and five great-grandchildren.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Elton Carr, daughters Lana Rhodes and Kathy Bedillion, grandson Johnny Carr. Brothers Jerry, Jim, and Bob.
The family welcomes all who knew her to partake in a celebration of her life on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 5 to 7 PM at their home, 5 Main Street, Taylorstown, PA.
Arrangements are entrusted to Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street Claysville, PA 15323. (724) 663-7373 www.youngfhinc.com
