Julia Jean Patterson, 82, of Claysville, passed away March 18, 2022, in her home. Julia was born November 13, 1939, to Bryan and Grace Logue Patterson in Claysville.
Miss Patterson graduated from Claysville High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and her Master of Science degree in Library Science from Duquesne University.
Julia had a distinguished 35-year teaching career. She began in the Chartiers Houston School District, teaching English for three years, before spending the remaining 32 years at Claysville Elementary School in the McGuffey School District.
Miss Patterson enjoyed her students and challenged them to pursue their interests.
Julia was a life-long learner who enjoyed reading, research, history, discussing current news events, and never missed completing the weekly New York Times crossword puzzle.
Julia’s Catholic faith was a large part of her life and was a member of Sacred Heart Church of the St. James Parish. She enjoyed volunteering at the church’s annual fish fry and was a generous supporter of various missions and societies of the Catholic Church.
If a Pittsburgh sports team was playing, Julia’s television was tuned in. She delighted in rooting for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers and was always ready to discuss current statistics and performance.
Julia was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Donald. She was the last of her immediate family.
Julia is survived by several cousins.
There will be no visitation, per Julia’s wishes. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Church of Saint James Parish in Claysville, on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 10 am everyone please meet at the church. Interment will immediately follow at Claysville Cemetery.
