Louise A. Wright

Louise A. Wright, 102, formerly of Claysville, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023. She was born on April 15, 1921, in Rock Camp WV, the daughter of the late Harry C. Antel and Cora Edna Cooper Antel. Six weeks after Louise’s birth, the family moved to McDonald, PA. 

She graduated from North Fayette High School. After graduating, she married John L. Wright on October 9, 1941. Together they moved to Charleston WV, and Louise started her career at the Navel Ordinance Plant. She made gun barrels and rocket tubes.

After the war, Louise moved to a farm near Claysville. She became a life-long member of Dutch Fork Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years. In 1987 she retired from Washington Grocers Association, she had worked there for 21 years.

In addition to her parents, Louise is preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas J. Antel, Damon C. Antel, Howard E. Antel, Robert R. Antel, Edward V. Antel, Harold “Gene” Antel, Mabel J. Dumas, and Betty A. Shagas.

Louise was the last of her immediate family.

She is survived by one sister-in-law Elsie Antel and many nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323.
