Lovona E. Ballo 96, of Oakdale, passed away peacefully in her home on April 6, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Kittie (Hassler) McKay. Lovona was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she obtained her degree and worked in accounting at Russell Industries for several years. She later worked the circulation desk of the Bridgeville Public Library.
Lovona was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Ballo, together they established and co-managed the Little League baseball team of their sons. She enjoyed all sports but was especially enthusiastic about the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball.
She was a lifelong resident of South Hills in Pittsburgh where she led an active religious life as a religion teacher and choir member. Lovona was a precious wife, loving mother, and grandmother that was always devoted to her family, but above all, she was a believing and practicing Christian, always thankful for her many blessings in life.
Lovona is survived by her two sons Alan Joseph Ballo (Peggy) and Kenneth John Ballo (Barbara), grandchildren Tammy Schweitzer, Alan Joseph (AJ) Ballo, Mark DiBello, Anne-Marie DiBello Murtha, Jarrett Ballo, Joseph Ballo, Elizabeth Ballo, and Robert Christopher Beer.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings Edith Bouchon, Leon McKay, Jeanette Aeppli, Celia Aeppli, LJoy McKay, Nita Snatchko, Leda Larkin, and Thea Collier
