Mary Jane Kennedy

Mary Jane Kennedy (Jane), 77, of Claysville, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Presbyterian SeniorCare Network Southmont. 

She was born on January 6, 1947, a daughter of the late Cecil (Boots) and Mary Lou (Till) Kennedy. 

She was a graduate of McGuffey High School. After high school, she worked for Mellon Bank in Claysville for a short time. Then, she became a dedicated bookkeeper for the Travel Center of America in Dallas Pike for over 50 years. She was also a bookkeeper for Gashel’s Market. 

Jane was a member of Eastern Star Martha V. Paul Chapter 404. She served as treasurer, Matrone, and Mother Advisor of Rainbow Girls of Evening Star Chapter 187 for many years. 

In her younger days, she enjoyed spending time on the family farm and hanging out at her family’s business of Kennedy’s West End Towing. As she got older, she loved watching Hallmark movies, watering her flowers, and sitting on the back porch. Her greatest joy was being an aunt and great-aunt. 

Surviving are nieces and a nephew, Natalie (Jason) Hewitt, Noelle (Timmy) Pattison, and Niles (Stephanie) Kennedy all of Claysville; great nieces and nephews, Hartley and Hunter Hewitt, Emily and Eli Pattison, Harper and Nora Kennedy. 

Deceased is a brother, Joseph Kennedy, sister-in-law Penelope (Pennie) Kennedy, and a nephew Nathan Kennedy. 

Friends and family will be received from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA, 15323. (724) 663-7373 www.youngfhinc.com. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Claysville Cemetery.  

The family is forever grateful to the Southmont staff, Amedysis Hospice staff, neighbors, family, and friends that have cared for Jane over the last few years. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Amedysis Hospice Care, 450 Racetrack Road, Suite 102, Washington, PA 15301.
