Patricia D. Brown

Patricia D. Brown, 93, of Claysville, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, with her loving family surrounding her. 

She was born on January 26, 1930, in Washington, PA, the daughter of the late Edgar and Bridget Lauther. 

Patricia was a proud graduate of Washington High School. After graduating, she began her career at Troutmans as a manager and later went to floral school and became a self-employed florist, having her very own flower shop in her home. 

In February 1949, she married the love of her life John “Jack” Brown. They spent 51 loving years together before his passing in 2000.

Patricia was on the Claysville Borough Council for 45 years and served as the President for 27 years. She was also part of the Claysville American Legion Ladies Auxillary for 69 years and the Claysville Playground Association Board of Directors for McGuffey Community Park.

She loved reading, Christmas time, and traveling especially to the beach, but most of all she loved her family, friends, and the town of Claysville. 

She is survived by her children Susan (Brad) Simms, Patty (Mark) Ferrell, John (Jewel) Brown, and Kevin (Katie) Brown, a sister Judy (Tom) Stewart, grandchildren Stephanie (Carl) North, Susanne (Scott) Dorsey, Patrick (Katie) Ferrell, Ashley (Luke) Troxler, Colin (Kate) Ferrell, Justin (Laura) Brown, Jessica (Kirk) Maclean, and Janna (Hunter) Cunningham, great-grandchildren Brooke (Robbie) Plants, Noah Dorsey, Morgan and Jacob North, Declan Ferrell, Brayden and Carter Troxler, Jackson Brown, Kinley and Karlee Maclean, and Wren and Holden Cunningham, step-great-grandchildren Gavin and Reegan, and great-great-grandchildren Rhett and Jensen Plants. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings Edgar Lauther, Geraldine Post, Carl Lauther, William Lauther, and Joanne Jarosz.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323. Interment to follow at Claysville Cemetery.
