Pete Mirich, 80, of Burgettstown, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 23, 2024, in Weirton Medical Center.
He was born on March 1, 1944, on his family farm in Jefferson Township, Burgettstown, PA, the son of the late Michael Sr. and Downie Mirich.
In 1963 Pete graduated from Union High School. After graduating he served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne until being honorably discharged in 1966. He continued his career as a Millwright in the Tin Plate Mill of J&L/LTV Steel retiring after 35 years of service.
In November of 2000, he married Iris Windsheimer Mirich.
In his retirement, Pete worked as the groundskeeper at Hillman Memorial Stadium in Burgettstown and drove truck for Carter Lumber in Atlasburg, PA.
Pete loved his family deeply and had a passion for farming. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, son-in-law, and grandsons, playing bocce ball, and certainly loved a good card game. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed watching the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins games.
He was a member of the Slovan VFW Post 6553, Atlasburg American Legion, Raccoon Valley and Cherry Valley Sportsmans Clubs, and the Burgettstown Italian Club.
He was best known for being “one more Pete” (if you know, you know), by his many, many friends.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Iris Mirich, a brother Michael Mirich, Jr. (Sheila), children Tara Kay Race (Harold) of North Fayette Township, Ray “Bo” Mirich (Marcy) of Burgettstown, Mandy Squire (Leo) of Cranberry, Jennifer Borelli (Patrick) of Burgettstown, and John Puskar (Jennifer) of South Park, 12 grandchildren Autumn and Taylor Race; Cole and Bodie Mirich; Calvin Squire; Sophia and Gianni Borelli; Calvin, Abby, Ally, William, and Michael Puskar, and several cousins.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021. 724-947-2049 www.youngfhinc.com.
