Bill Martin, beloved family patriarch, 74, of East Finley Twp. died suddenly in his home Friday, July 27, 2018.

Born November 27, 1943 in a house just down the road, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Jean A. Martin, née Marshman.

He was in the first graduating class of McGuffey High School in 1961 and then proudly served 4 years as a US Marine.

He was an avid reader and book collector and loved sharing favorite books with family and friends. He was knowledgeable about history and agriculture, and loved nature. His generosity extended beyond books, breakfasts and advice in his later years as he selflessly helped those closest to him in anyway he could, often forgoing his own needs.

He was proud father of Jeremiah W. Martin (Kseniia Abibulaeva) of East Finley, and Christy Viveros (Gilberto) of East Washington, and an even prouder Pap-Pap to Joshua and Azucena ‘Susie’ Viveros. He is also survived by his former wife and close friend, Mary Jane Martin of Washington.

He was big brother to Jean Ann Heath (Wilbur) of Arkansas, Patricia Vincent (William) of North Carolina, and Bryan Martin (Beth) of Beaver and also grew up with an ‘honorary’ sister Peggy Scott (Dave) of Virginia.  He was doting uncle to Stephanie Kerns (Matthew) of Arkansas, Aaron Martin (Amanda) of Pleasant Grove, and Tyler Martin (Megan Bails) of Prosperity and great-uncle to Vaughn Kerns and Anna Martin. He also leaves behind one “pain in the ass” cat, Boone.

Family and friends will greatly miss his daily calls “just to check in”.
