Robert Maltony, Sr. Obituary

Robert Louis Maltony, Sr. 92, passed away on January 16, 2023, peacefully at home with his loving family at his side.

Bob was born March 7, 1930, in Burgettstown, a son of the late Louis and Erma Maltony. He was a graduate of Burgettstown Union High School. He was a man of many ambitions and held a variety of jobs including Starvagg’s, Petrucci’s Market, WM Sanitation, Jake Schneider Bus Co., and Our Lady of Lourdes as a custodian. He retired from J&L Steel in 1985. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was awarded several medals for his service. Bob was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a 4th-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3440, and American Legion & Veteran of Foreign Wars.

In 1957, he met the love of his life, Carol (Slater) Maltony, who survives. The two married in 1958 and would have been celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this year.

Bob was a humble and kind man with a warm smile and always a friendly greeting to everyone. Being an avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports but found the most pleasure in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and could be found leading one of his favorite songs “That’s Amore” with his brothers and family at various celebrations.

In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by four sons, Robert Jr. (Judy), Jeffrey (Peggy), Michael (Lesli), and Bryan (Alison), 11 grandchildren Alycia Maltony, Colleen (Zach) Smith, Brea (Nick) Pinardo, Tyler (Mackenzie) Maltony, Mikala (Jordan) West, Isabella (Tyler) Maltony, Anthony Maltony, Jessica Rodacay, Adanna Maltony, Amir Maltony, and Aniah Maltony, and four great-grandchildren Rory Smith, Asher Pinardo, Scarlett Hellerman, Lucia Maltony, and soon to be baby Tate West.

Also, surviving are brothers, Ron, Rich (Lois), and Tom, sister Carol (Larry) Keating, sister-in-law Becky Slater and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are brother Ed and sister Joanne Spiotta.
