Roberta M. Martin

Roberta M. Martin, 91, formerly of Claysville, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. She was born in Hundred WV, on August 12, 1931, the daughter of Mildred and Robert Moorehead.

She was a 1949 graduate of the former Claysville High School. On August 20, 1949, she married Richard L. Martin, the love of her life, and the couple remained happily married for 63 years until his passing on November 8, 2012. They were longtime members of Claysville United Methodist Church. 

Bertie, as most people called her, worked as a Medical Assistant for several local physicians, Doctor Louis Emeterio for two and a half years, Doctor Fred D. Large for 27 years, and Claysville Family Practice for ten years until her retirement. 

Bertie was kind to everyone she came in contact with, and she was loved by many. Bertie and her husband Dick enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. After her husband's death, Bertie moved to Strabane Woods Assitant Living in Washington, PA. 

Surviving are her two daughters, Janet Indermuhle (Allen), and Gloria Kovach (Michael), and a son Richard Martin Jr. (Tammy). Also surviving are her sister Becky Hunter (Dwight), and her brother Ernie Dale “Sonny” Moorehead (Fran). Eight grandchildren survive her, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother John Weimer.

Family and friends will be received from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323.
