Rudy Plants went home to be with his Lord Thursday, December 27, 2018.
Born a share cropper's son on August 7, 1947, to the late George and Mildred Plants in Claysville. Also deceased are eight brothers and a sister, Marvin "Duane" Plants, Gerald Plants, Gaylord "Giz" Plants, Larry Plants, Julian Plants, Grayson Plants, Roger Plants, David Plants and Patricia "Patty" Plants.
Surviving are a brother, George Plants, and a sister, Mildred "Midge" Moore.
On May 29, 1964, he married Lotus Rolene Doman, who is deceased. They had six children, Tina (deceased) Plants, Rodney (Jessica) Plants, Randy (Michelle) Plants, Ricky (Amanda) Plants, Ronnie (deceased) Plants and Rolene (Christopher) Clayton.
In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a combat veteran in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he received from an explosive device while serving in Operation Badger Tooth. Rudy served in Lima Company 3/1 Special Weapons Division.
Rudy was Christian and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his buddy, Eli "Leroy" Clayton. He wanted you to know he was glad you got to see him.
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service at 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, in Fairmount Cemetery, East Finley, for a Christian burial and full military honors. A wake will follow at Prosperity Social Hall.
