Samuel R. Staley, 93, of Washington, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
He was born on January 18, 1931, in Donegal Township, the son of the late Clarence L. Staley and Anne E. Pierce Staley.
On January 5, 1958, he married Dorothy M. Ireland, they spent 62 loving years before her passing on April 14, 2020.
Samuel served as a tank mechanic with the 245th Tank Battalion in the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defence Service Medal.
After being honorably discharged from the military he entered the American Radio and Television School and graduated in 1957. Samuel repaired radios and televisions for a number of years. He also worked as a custodian for the Washington School District for 34 years before retiring on January 19, 1996.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his son Gary Staley, and brothers Clarence Staley, Edward Staley, Frank Staley, Tommas Staley, Lloyd Staley, and Joe Staley.
He is survived by a brother David Staley of Cannonsburg, PA, a sister Freda Long of Washington, PA, and a niece Betty Dague (Joe) of Washington, PA.
