Stanley F. Godfrey

On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Stanley Floyd Godfrey age 74 passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.  

Loving and devoted husband of 35 years to Marian P. Godfrey.  Loving father of Louis D. Godfrey of Shamokin, PA, Connie M. McClelland of Burgettstown PA, and Denise E. Straffon of Slippery Rock, PA.  Loving Brother to Carol Lenhart of Pittsburgh PA. Grandfather to Garrett S. Straffon, Ashley E. Godfrey, Savanna L. McClelland, Amber M. McClelland, Allie Godfrey, Grant, and Roman Schadle. Great Grandfather to Trenton, Deacon, and Rylee.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  

Stan worked for US Steel in his younger days then worked as a car mechanic. He loved working on cars and trucks. He later attended school at the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics to become an aircraft mechanic and inspector.  After graduation, he moved from Pittsburgh to Ohio to work for the Air Services of Cleveland for 7 years. Stanley and his wife Marian later moved to Michigan for a new job with the US Government/ Department of Transportation in the Bureau of the FAA as a Safety Inspector Officer of Aircraft.  Stanley retired in December of 2016 from the FAA.  Stanley had plans to eventually move back to Pittsburgh to be around his family which he accomplished in January 2022.  He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and loved reading his bible and would pray every day in the early mornings for 1-2 hours as well as bible study with his wife. He loved caring for and feeding stray cats/animals. His heart was filled with love for his family and friends and animals.  Stanley is going to be missed by many.
