William Russell Summers

William R. Summers, 89, of Claysville, PA on Monday, March 17, 2025, after a year-long illness, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 6, 1936, in Mt. Washington, Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late George and Elizabeth Summers. William graduated from South Hills High School in 1954.

From 1955 to 1958 William served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and from 1958 to 1960 he served in the U.S. Army as a member of the U.S. Army Rifle Team until being honorably discharged.

On August 27, 1960, William married his true love and best friend Margaret Summers. They were blessed to have spent 64 loving years together. 

William worked for the United States Postal Service for many years until his retirement in 1995.

William loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed country living, horses, guns, and his dog. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Todd R. Summers, and brother-in-law Glenn Greyburn.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Summers, children Amy Colussi (Barry) and Mark Summers (Stephanie), grandchildren Tyler Summers (Lily), Dylan Summers (Felicity), and Caleb Summers, sisters Ruth Greyburn and Sandy Fricker (Barry), and several nieces and nephews.
